Empor is a marketplace built with students in mind. Founded in 2024 by four McGill students in Montreal, we saw an opportunity to make student life more convenient and sustainable. In our neighborhoods, we noticed many items that might be discarded as useless—but we recognized their value.

Alongside this, we, and many other students, had frustrating experiences with traditional platforms, facing scams, unreliable sellers, and unexpected long-distance trips for disappointing purchases.

Empor was created to solve these problems by providing a dedicated platform that ensures transactions are safe, verified, and rooted in the student community. Whether you’re looking to buy, sell, or rent anything from furniture to event tickets, Empor connects students directly, making campus life more sustainable and efficient.

Empor isn’t just another marketplace. Our platform is designed specifically for the student experience. Safety and trust are at the core of what we do: users are verified through their university email, creating a secure environment where students can confidently interact with their peers.

We’re also deeply committed to sustainability. By encouraging students to trade and reuse goods, Empor helps reduce waste and supports a circular economy within campus communities. What started as a simple solution to the inefficiencies of existing marketplaces quickly grew into a mission-driven platform. Since our founding in 2024, we’ve expanded from a small team of four to a collective of ten McGill students, all driven by a passion for improving student life and the environment.

Empor has since evolved into more than just a marketplace—it’s a growing community. Headquartered in Montreal, our vision is to empower students across Canada, building stronger, more sustainable university experiences one transaction at a time.
